This Month's Meeting:

We will be meeting at the Villa Antonio Winery starting at 11 am.

When you arrive just say that you are with the Missouri Wine Makers Society and they will let you know where we are meeting.

The meeting agenda will include tasting the wineries wines. There will be a charge for the tasting. The first 3 are free but if you go for a full tasting of 10 there is a $10 charge and you get to keep the wine glass. If some of you want to do a side by side comparison with their wines with your own bring your own wine. We can taste our own wine only but we cannot bring it in for consumption.

Food is available from the winery. I am not sure if we can bring in our own food for the tasting. I did not get an answer from them on that.

Toni or Tom from the winery will talk to our group about Villa Antonio’s wine making. I remember from a previous visit that they do not make very many adjustments to the juice for fermentation.

The meeting will officially end at 2 pm but all are welcome to stay longer. There will be a band setting up to play music starting at 1 pm.

Attached to the e-mail is the web address for the winery with directions.

Next Month's Meeting:

Next month’s meeting will be at the Assumption Greek Church. The meeting will be on Thursday July 19th at 7:30 pm.

The program will be on the making of fruit wines. It will be a panel type discussion so some of you who are very good at making fruit wine be prepared to share your knowledge. For those who have won silver or bronze medals with fruit wine please be prepared to bring some of your wine for the tasting.

Last Month's Meeting:

Last month’s meeting was at Vintner’s Cellars in O’Fallon Missouri. It is owned and operated by Lee Rupert a member of our club and his wife. He gave a very good presentation of the business and the work that has gone into getting it started. For those of us contemplating maybe starting our own wineries it is always a good idea to find out what it takes to get one started. Usually it is quite sobering to realize the effort required.

We also had a very good series of his wines for tasting. All were basically kit wines.

Other News:

Please contact your usual fresh grape suppliers and find out if they will have grapes this year. The freeze has wiped out some varieties and other varieties have been unaffected.

Part of Saturday’s meeting will be discussing grape availability.
